The Internet is a place where there is a lot of money being made, every hour of every day, in all kinds of different currencies and in a lot of different ways. But while some people are trading stocks, commodities and foreign currencies in order to make their money, some other people are looking to work for someone else. And while there is a lot of paying work to be done in the online world, you do have a goodly number of different decisions to make about what you intend to do, whom you intend to do it for, and what level of pay you are willing to receive in compensation for the work that you do. As the old saying goes, you get what you both expect and accept.
On the one hand, there are a bunch of different sites such as Guru.com, GetaFreelancer, oDesk and Elance. These are some of the more popular sites that people use in order to find a little bit of freelance work. While the risks of getting very little are a bit higher, the potential for reaping massive rewards is also higher than putting all of your proverbial eggs into one (employer’s) basket. You have the option to do all kinds of different work from writing press releases to designing website templates and answering emails and planning out people’s schedules.
On the other hand, there are other sites such as Monster, The Ladders and CareerBuilder, where the objective is to find a single employer to work for. If you are the type of person who would rather put in eight to ten hours a day and know what you are going to make every month, this is the style of site you want to check out. While there is a lot more risk of being downsized, you at least know how much money you are going to make until they do that to you.
